Is anyone else bored to wait hours after each move while opponent is away?
I have an idea to search for an opponents to play live (or just actually talk for fun)at chat, just like counter-strike players do. Another advantage of it is possibility to search for specific skill, scenario, side and so on. Afaik there is already a thread at forum to search for an opponents, but it's basically the same thing as PBEM - you write a message and wait until someone will respond...

So if anyone is interested - here is [alpha] Panzer Corps chat - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?randomnick ... t=1&uio=d4
Feel free to make your suggestions about this, if everyone accept current chat protocol and network, I will write a detailed tutorial how to connect from different clients (including web browser) and so on.
P.S. I know about program that immediately shows about new move available, but not everyone has it, and it's kinda another thing...

This would be great, but scenario design would have to be geared for it better.

Extremely large battles with gigantic unit counts is totally unacceptable for this format, but works great for PBEM.

With smaller maps that have reduced unit counts and extremely quick game play, this feature would be welcome as it would be possible to complete a full scenario in a single sitting, much like many multiplayer games these days.

Of the maps that ship with the game, very few would qualify though. Battle for the Bzura is probably the best choice, maybe The Dnieper too. But anything large like... Hylan Valley or Steamroller against Steel still would take too long. Not just long to play, but there is a lot of thinking to be done too.

I used to have heaps of fun playing Steel Panthers online/ live. If i was up early enough (and being a shift worker helps) a small group of us die hards used to meet up every few days and have 4 player games online but they could take some time. You would get a few time outs, or double times on the turns where you really had too think. I miss those days and wish Panzer Corps had a few more online options.
I wonder if those guys are still playing SP ?
