Rebasing Project Well Underway

After a few test games using other rules I decided I would re-base my Napoleonics - all 4,000 of 'em, which are currently based for the old Wargame Research Group rules (1:50 scale, 4 figs to a base for line inf and 2 figs to a base for light inf). I know the rules can be played without re-basing but it really came down to getting tired of moving all those fiddly little bases. So, since both FoGN and Lasalle use 2 ranks per line infantry....I held my breadth and started to re-base. Holding my breadth is because I'm doing the re-basing without any idea of what the army lists will be....and since I started with my 1806 Prussians I'll have a longer time to hold my breadth since that list will be in the last book!

So, why the 1806 Prussians?

1) I didn't have to buy too many figures for them. Most of battalions I had were 16 figure units (= small FoGN or Lasalle unit). Many of the other nations have a lot of 700 man battalions which = 14 figures for WRG. So actually the first item was a boon to the figure manufacturers....and off the orders have gone for another 400 figures to round out the battalions,

2) There's reasonably good documentation on the structure of the 1806 divisions so I felt I could make a reasonable stab at re-basing them without seeing the list.

The result is:

8 Line infantry battle groups of 4 bases (each BG conveniently being formed by combining the 2 WRG battalions of one regiment)
2 Grenadier BG of 4 bases
1 Fusilier BG of 4 bases (2 skirmishing bases) + 2 bases replacement skirmishing bases for the whole BG to go into skirmish order
1 Jager BG organized the same as the Fusiliers
2 Hussar BG of 6 bases
2 Dragoon BG of 6 bases
2 Cuirassier BG of 6 bases
Artillery - not rebased as I think I'll need to wait for the lists for the options of what to do.

The schutzen were troublesome. I had a base of 2 figs per regiment for the WRG basing. I ended up combining the schutzen from 2 regiments to form 1 skirmishing base per brigade (i.e., I have 4 of these bases for the army) which might end up being decorative when I finally see the 1806 lists.

Hopefully, I'm not too far off base. Ugh! That was bad.
