Frozen Lakes

So ever since I've bought the game I've felt that it was a bit of a shortfall that frozen lakes had the same water graphic as regular water, so I've attempted to fill the gap. I'm not a graphic artist, but I think the effect is not that bad.

Thanks Xitax. :)
We need land tiles.
If you feel inspired, please continue.

Alrighty then!

I'm trying to find a better match for the contrast to make it look icy and matching the default Panzer Corps environment.

How's this?

Last pic/tiles look really good!
But they do need a guy that does some icefishing I think :P

I agree. Nice work, good to see modders paying attentions to such details :)

Ok, here is a link for version 2:

EDIT:
As I feared, PanzerCorps uses the same 3 tiles for sea and for lakes (frozen or not) This means that maps with both will look bad. Unless there's a way to separate the two there's nothing more I can do here. Perhaps the kind devs can do that in a future patch?

As a possible solution, could a few spots be added to LayerTerrainFrozen.png to overlay lakes? That would work, too.

You can add more overlays. But of course maps or scenarios do not use these new overlays unless you fire up the editor and add them in manually to each map or scenario where they're supposed to show up. You need to have a another "unfrozen" water tile in the same slot as your frozen one, but in the muddy and dry terrain files, in case there's a weather change within the scenario.

You can also add a completely new tileset, and define your own layers (even more then those included) by editing the tileset.pzdat to include this set.

Thanks, I had an inkling that I might be able to add it as a custom terrain. My intent was to use it on default and DLC maps, so it didn't quite do it for me.

Now that you're working on patch 1.6, I'd like to put in another plug for assigning frozen lakes a tile graphic of their own. THANKS!

It was just a replacement for the three ocean tiles - I can dig it up again, but on maps with both ocean and frozen lakes everything is frozen.
