Catching the end of a BG with a charge

While watching a game on Monday I saw a possibly interesting situation. A BG had charged another at a slight angle and if the chargers had stepped forwards a base would have caught the edge of a second rank base. Should this have happened? If it does do both sides get two bases fighting?

Yes
If it does do both sides get two bases fighting?
Yes.
But it is not a flank charge, and the chargers will have to conform in the manouvre phase to be in front edge contact with the front of the enemy BG or in an overlap position.
