Triggered units on the map

My question is on what depends if a unit with triggers is on the map or it appers (from nothing) only when his trigger is activated. I would say that every unit appears only when it's trigger activated but I saw maps where the triggered units was there (for example the on vanila Stalingrad map the tanks east of Stalingrad).

So what makes the difference and is it possible so set that I want the triggered units to be stationed on the map until they will be triggered and come in action or they only appears on the map when they will be triggered?

Thanks!

There is a guide for action triggers here (first in list): viewtopic.php?t=27036

If I understand your question, you can do it either way:

1. On the map: set the units to be Defender (Passive), which will mean they won't move for anything. You can name each unit or set a zone on each unit's hex to be used by the next step. Then use the Scenario AI Actions tab and set the units to become Attacker (or whatever you want) on a set turn or when a condition is met (such as an objective is taken). e.g. When flag in Zone 1 is captured, all units in Zone 2 are set to Attacker, where Zone 2 has all the units you have designated as counter attackers.

2. Appear on set turn: set the units as Attacker and have them appear on the turn you want them to. The problem with this method is you don't want units to spring up out of the ground.

I use the first method as it seems more 'natural'.
