Possible bug found in original PzC campaign?

I have been playing the original PzC 1939 campaign. Along the way I have been "awarded" three SE infantry units. As soon as I was awarded the units, I upgraded their vehicle transports to the best one available (the one that can move 8 spaces). Before I started the Kursk scenario, I upgraded all of my units to the 1943 versions, including the SE units. All of my standard units retained their transports, but I had to re-purchase the transports (at a cost of a total of 600 prestige points) for my three SE units. I actually did not discover this until I was actually playing the Kursk scenario and my SE infantry units had no transports. I am not sure if the devs are aware of this, but I wanted to post this issue in case it was unknown.

When you upgraded them to their 1943 variants, you have to make sure you select the correct transport. This should cost 0 if you've already purchased the top tier transport.
You probably just hit 'upgrade' and upgraded them into the 'no transport' option.

I'll keep that in mind, but why is it not necessary to do that with the "standard" units?
