Customizable army lists

I was wondering that making available the possibility for the players of creating custom army list would be a great improvement for the game.

I understand that the problem lies in the fact that MP games would be affected by the fact that some gamers could utilize monster-armies to beat all their opponents, but what about making it possible for SP games only?
I've had a look at thefolders in the Slitherine engine and it seems that the files stored in the "armies" directory are somehow protected, in order to make alterations impossible.
Still maintaining this feature for the existing sub-folders like "rise-of-rome", "storm-of-arrows" and so on, why not creating a specific sub-directory, named for example "customized-army", where making the existing army files accessible, giving the chance of modding them?
The armies of this folder could be used only for SP games, giving the players the possibility to test them and to play with them, without altering the MP balance.

Moreover, the customized armies could be then submitted by the players to the Slitherine guys, who would have the chance of looking at them and inserting in the game if found feasible, thus adding still more luster to FoG (I'm already thinking about list of Muzaffarids, Jalayrids, Elamites ..)!

Its a tricky one because it could negate the need for the expansions and kill off the games future. I don't know how possible it is either so we'd have to think about it! :)

Lysmichos, what it almost sounds like your asking for is a way to save/import a custom army when using the editor for quick creation of new battles using same.
I would like this myself, it is tedious to make up an army of 40-50 BG's w historical names etc and then have to redo the whole thing when making another scenario where you basically want to use the same force. (although the copy and paste feature is really helpful)

I wouldnt see why this would effect future sales since you can basically re create any list you want with just the base game and editor ( you just wont necasarily have the graphics, nor be able to play with it in DAG mp battles)

Yes, I am all for Custom Armies being able to be used for Scenarios. This would not violate the "new module" issue and frankly right now I can make up custom armies for scenarios which otherwise would be used in future modules. From what I was told we already had all of the units we needed for the D&F module anyway.

I don't think it would affect the new expansion because a player can only use the graphics already inserted in the game, while the new add-on should regard different time period. I mean, if now I could try to create a Muzaffarid list this wouldn't affect the sales of new expansions because this army pertains to a period already covered by the Eternal Empire expansion.

In other words this would only increase the army list of already existing expansions, only adding hosts of less known states, whitout affecting the edition of new expansions.
How could I create an Elamite or Assyrian army without the proper graphics? :?
And you know how anxiously I'm waiting the release of "Swifter then the Eagle" and "Empire of the Dragon"!!!

I dont really understand where the lists would be used if its not part of the DAG.

I think alot of players would like to be able to customize their graphics. For myself I would like to be able to create armies with numbered icons for when I am playing the AI solo. I would not have to be able to use them with email games. I dont see how to do this at present without overwriting current lists.

BTW, I have to play miniatures solo because there arent any other gamers in my area. FOG digital is very good for this. Thanks for the decent AI!
