What do you mean?
An easier integration?

What I am hoping for is a method for direct downloading of the mod etc directly into the game data base without having to do other steps as one currently has to do[file creation, proper location etc] where the wished for mod is chosen downloaded and ready for use

Such a system would not be easy to implement, for several reasons.
And certainly not by the developers.
Skyrim for example has a mod manager tool, which besides installing you can also download the mods. But still you'll have to go to the manager's site and pick the ones you want and add them to the manager. This is done not by the developer itself, but by a third party.
Although I would like such a system, has you described doc99, I'm afraid it's unrealistic.

a repository hosted by the Dev's could be a good start.

I don't know any game company with a hosting repository service for mods.
Not even the bigger developers/publishers, with a lot of more resources, do it.
What I hope is a really better integration of mods, specially the cosmetic ones.
And that involves a lot of work, and it's not so easy to implement as it might sound.

Fun fact: Slitherine are doing exactly that for Battle Academy ;)
You can download a selection of hosted mods for BA with two clicks in the main menu.

I agree that this would be great to see in PC too.

Battlefront does it.

The Combat Mission series is pretty popular as well.

@alex0809 and @MikeAP
Thanks both for correcting me, I didn't knew. :)

@alex0809
That's interesting.
What kind of mods? Cosmetic and Maps/Scenarios/Missions?
And do you have a launcher for mods? Can you combine mods?

In the scenario selection screen:

And the mod is installed - couldn't be any easier!

I don't know it so well myself. But the way I understand it, every scenario you download is seen as an independent mod by the game, meaning theoretically along with the custom scenario/campaign you could add new units, scripts (eg. new abilities for units), music, whatever.
A launcher is not necessary because when you select the scenario (eg. in the first screenshot you can see the WW1 mod) the game automatically loads all files from the mod folder into the game.

I'd say that's pretty much custom content as convenient as it could possibly get. For Panzer Corps, there would surely be quite some work involved by the devs to enable this, though.

I dunno about one click mods, but the DLC content is just a straight forward installer.

As for custom campaigns if they are configured under the latest system, it only takes a few steps.

I agree with doc99. I have never downloaded any mods for Panzer Corps because I do not want to screw around moving the original game files around, or copying things from folder to folder just to play a mod scenrio. I want something idiot-proof like downloading the DLCs. It would be nice if there was a "universal downloader" or something where mods could be easily downloaded from an approved server and incorporated into the game as easily as downloading the DLCs. I am not a computer programmer, so I don't know the mechanics of doing this, but maybe someone out there in Panzer Corps world could figure it out. It would be nice to be able to pay some mod scenarios while I am waiting for the next DLC to arrive.

If it's just a mod scenario you want to play you will not stuff your PzC system - just put it in your My Docs\My Games\Panzer Corps\scenario folder and choose it from Scenario, Custom. The only time vanilla PzC will be affected is if something like the equipment file (et al.) is changed. Even that is well handled now using the Mods folder in the same location as mentioned. That said, I think an even simpler system could be devised to download files directly to those locations.

To play the mods scenario is just a simple copy and paste to a folder, that won't take you more than 2 seconds.
A campaign scenario might be more harder or not. But in the last case as long you use GME launcher, there's no issue at all and it's like use an ingame tool. Besides there will be mods that probably will never be hosted in Slitherine server, by their own choice. Why should you not enjoy them?
If anyone has any difficulty in how to use mods just ask, someone will answer. I'll be glad to help.

If you use the GME mod enabler nothing bad happen to you. It is easy and save. I'm also the type who are careful with such things but it worths. It is so: if you want something plus for free you have to learn something new. ;)

For those of you who are like me, sometimes computer challenged, I can vouch for VPaulus's willingness to help. He went WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY beyond the call of duty to help me get my PzC installations and GME get installed correctly and how to use them correctly. He is a master at it and a great generous scholar and gentleman. This forum is much better thanks to him and others like him. :D

No. I'm a Panzer Corps addict, although don't have much time to play it. :wink:
I still wonder how I end up doing a sound mod for a game. :shock:
