Ok, had an interesting game last night.
Please take a look at the following combat.
The HF has been charged from two directions resulting thus

In the melee the HF break and get a + VMD thus:

The cavalry pursue and get a - VMD.
The question is which do they do?
1)

or
2)

To me, 2 looks more correct as the base in contact attempts to keep contact. My opponent stated that 1 was more correct as they can actually maintain contact (and also be ready to impact the bow when the HF disappear - something that I'm sure didn't influence his decision)
