Explanation of hotseat

Regarding hotseat is this used when you want to try out multiplayer campaigns ?
It can be used for that, sure. It is mainly designed to allow for either multi person hotseat (where you might be sharing the computer with someone else) or to allow you to play yourself should that be something that you enjoy.
