Hours & hours of CBS radio recordings covering D-Day. This first hour of recording covers 2 or 3 hours when German radio first announced the invasion. Shortwave radio receivers in New York pick up broadcasts from German radio and the BBC. At first the correspondents thought that the reports of the Anglo-American invasion might be a trick and wasn't until very early in the morning (US Eastern War Time) that they got official confirmation for Eisenhower's headquarters that the invasion was underway.
I've only listen to the first one (1 hr 10-minutes); but you really do get the feeling of listening to history and what it must have been to listen to this event as it unfolded.
