Aren't their stats over the top for 1940? SA 5, HA 6, GD 8, AD 17, CD 2 with those stats they shred everything you throw at them, either armor or infantry. They have better stats than US Inf 43, almost the same as Wehrmacht Inf 43, what are they armed with? Bazookas?

Belgians are known for their superior capacities and good looks all around the world. :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ardennes_Chasseur_Regiment

They were especially created as a counter measure to any German invasion through the Ardennes and indeed had exta anti-armour available, so we thought it was fun, not to make it a push-over unit, just suppress them every time with arty or planes, before you throw in a unit against them and they are easily beaten.

Actually I have checked that wiki article before starting the topic :)

Ok, let's say they should have the same Soft Attack as Grenadiers (although I doubt it), but the Hard Attack is ridiculous. Even if it had more AT guns than other infantry units, they shouldn't have the same punch as a specialized AT unit employing the same type of gun (47mm FRC or the French 47mm SA 37: HA 6). No need for AT units for Belgians, this unit is two in one :D

I still beat the Low Countries with DV, but I wouldn't have noticed this little unit if it was not so resilient. I used my artillery on cities and this one was hanging around in open among my Panzers.

Suppressed uber-units can not shoot back.

Then we can mod it to have 20 soft attack and 50 hard attack, no problem :P

I wonder what would be the result. Maybe along these lines:
Operation proceeding according to the plan, first enemy line breached, first objectives captured. Wait... At the horizon they are spotted approaching. Halt all operations. Bring in all the artillery, and all strategic bombers. Panzers divisions are fleeing in panic in all directions as they fear touching it worse than plague...

Then give them an extra point for initiative all across the board. :D

Sounds like working as intended then. And in my playthroughs of the original campaign , I just bypass them entirely.

Why working as intended? From the internet article it seems each unit had only four AT guns (assuming each PzC unit is not larger than a regiment). Why does it have the same Hard Attack as a company with 8-18 AT guns (divisional AT company)?

Plain and simple for fun, we balance around historic data, but don`t design historical simulators, we try and make fun games.

De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum, so we made a choice here and cannot please everyone, we thought it was fun to make the entry into the Ardennes a bit harder, for gameplay sake.

And of course, don`t forget Belgians are such wonderful, intelligent and sympathetic people... we could not resist. LOL

Except for the belgian jokes about the dutch ;)

And btw, i prefer Ardeense Jager, not Chasseur Ardennais.

Am I the only one who sees the potential in this? Go ahead and ask for an uber I.A.R. 80 and a better Romanian Mountain Infantry on the bases that the Romanians are "wonderful, intelligent and sympathetic people" etc. All the time I was trying to militate for more minor axis units and failing it was because I did not appeal to the dev`s sentiments. I`m now sure.

Did that go as planned? :D

Actully some of the smaller counties units fought like badgers on crack when they had the right esprit de corps, and the right leadership. Generally history books over look these heroes of the hour or day depending on what/where/when factors. I think it is great that the devs have added this as a "fun factor".

I have repeatedly gone aginst Russian 45mm AT guns that even being bombed or shelled - just refuse to die! Even though it makes me use nasty words about them - it does really add flavor I feel. :D

I am getting a history lesson here, I thought the Belgians just "waffled" in 1940.
