Waffen SS Mod,Add On,

is there any vision or hope out for a mod or a add on for waffen ss units ? There are alot of cammo options ive seen plus the ability of making , for instance, SS panzergrenadiers if anybody has the tech savy for this i would love to help with historical input.

I'm almost done a mod along those lines. I'm actually waiting until the DLC'S are done,due to the fact of the new units that are added and the unit tweaks that are done. The point of the mod I was creating ,in my mind, was to be able to use the all of the stuff I was doing in both the vanilla campaign and the DLC's.

After every patch that came out I was investigating manually what changes had been made ,ie: cost,range,combat values (due to there being no "changelog" supplied with the patch,,,which is understandable,,I'm not complaining,,just stating) and tweaking the mod. I then had to test the mod for playability and balance

Needless to say that got old really,really quick :evil: ,so I made a decision to wait until the DLC's (due to the fact that in front of every dlc there's a patch released just prior to it) are out and then release the mod.

If the mod was released now I would have to "patch" the mod and do the whole tesing thing to make sure of balance and playability after each official patch was released. I personally always hated using a mod in other games that was not "up to date" w/ officially released content,so....

Rest assured that once the DLC's are finished and the patches are done (I hope). I will release the "mod the shall not be named.....yet" :wink: )

What do you think I'm doing all the time with Redux?
After all the Grand Campaign DLC is released, there still will be more patches.

sounds good her Obersturmbahnfhurer!! like i said those cammo patterns are as good a some of those lithographs ive seen that costs hundreds of dollars.

Ok,,,I'll get all of the stuff together,document the changes and get it organized. It will only be the vanilla Heer and and my "new" SS units with NO SE ground units. The one bonus unit will be the Storch made by BosDragon

I will work on getting the Total SE Mod complete after the SS Panzer Corps Mod is released

Between Work and Honey-Do lists I figure it will take about a week to get all of the files organized.

Quick question:

Is there a site for hosting that I can use/join?

But of course if it will be in a week, great. 8)
I use Gamefront, mainly because it's game related, they host patches/mods and their servers are quick.

hmmmmmmm ss panzer corps mod!! i have a feeling this game will surpass the good ole panzer general and blitzkrieg by far :)

To any members that are interested here is the list of changes that were made.

I think maybe this thread should get moved to the scenario design area :lol: .

I'm not,,repeat not going to get into a pissing match over why I'm making this mod or the changes I made. If you have legitimate suggestions I will take them under advisement.

Here is the list of changes that I have made.

All of the Heer units now have a corresponding Waffen SS unit. I did not include captured equipment into this mod, just "good old" Heer units converted to SS. Nor is there any SE units,,only the Storch is available as a bonus

Stat changes are as follows:

All SS Infantry:

+1 hard attack
+1 soft attack
+1 intitiative
+1 ammo

cost is +60 prestige than their Heer counterparts.

All SS Armor:

+1 intitiative
+1 ammo

Cost is +30 prestige than their Heer counterparts.

All SS Arty:

+1 intitiative
+1 ammo

SS Arty. cost is now +30 prestige than their Heer counterparts

*******Following additional stat changes to both Heer and SS Arty.*******

7.5 cm FK 16 was made airborne capable (both Heer and SS)

SturmPanzer I range changed (-1) to 2 (both Heer and SS)

17cm K 18 range changed (+1) to 4 (both Heer and SS)

All SS Flak:

+1 intitiative
+1 ammo

SS Flak units cost is now +30 prestige than their Heer counterparts

3.7 cm Flak made airborne capable (both Heer and SS)

12.8 cm Flak40 given a "dual" Pak mode w/ corresponding changes to the Pak mode (both Heer and SS)

Opel Blitz

+2 ground defense
+1 air defense

All SS transport cost +15 more prestige than Heer counterparts.

Waffen SS portraits added to replace vanilla Heer portraits.

Ambush Camo scheme made by Flak and Rezaf used for vehs. There is no Camo available for towed Arty/Flak/Pak units nor is there a good Camo scheme available for aircraft.
If good camo'd skins are made for the towed stuff and aircraft I will definitely add them into the mod.

Feisler Storch made by BosDragon added as the only bonus unit available and the limit is three.

The Historical Insignia Mod by VPaulus and Mannocks Campaing add on are recommended for use alongside this mod they can used in conjunction along w/ this mod utilizing the GME (I hope :oops: ,,,I've incorporated them into my personal version,,if they can't be used via the GME I will add them physically into the release)

Very interesting read. I already have the feeling it will be a great mod that everybody wants to play.
Which maps are you using for this? Or does it only come with a custom made eqp and related files?

Thanks,, I've been kinda busy,,thank god the holidays are over,it's my favorite time of the year,,but between work,family and the obligatory holiday hangovers :evil: I'm glad it's over

I'm in no way a mapper....yet.The only "new" maps are the ones Mannock made . There is a custom eqp. file and efx file to cover the "new" units and BosDragon's Storch. I had made some different and more ambitious stat changes, but they screwed up the play balance, so I stayed w/ my original idea plus some little tweaks.

I have a question and I would like some feedback both pro and con on the idea from the community. :D

I was thinking of using the captured equipment as the bonus SE units in the Waffen SS mod. I will make a "total SE" (all units will be available as bonuses in the total SE mod and they will be made avalaible as a bonus 2-3 months before their availibilty date as regular units,but that is for after I get the Waffen SS mod out.)

I was eliminating the SE units and making only the Storch avl. in this mod as a bonus. I then and tweaked stats and prestige a little to put a different spin on the vanilla campaign and the dlc's. I then had the idea of making the captured equipment available as bonuses, but I'm kinda see-sawey :? on the idea.

If I make the captured units bonus units they would be given as bonuses in the vanilla campaign as well as the dlc's,but I would make them non-upgradable,which means that the player could "sell" them back and get the presige when they are no longer useful and hope for more. I would also put an end date on the availability, so that you don't wind up getting a Matilda in 1945 :P . I personally found that appealing because while the Waffen SS and both the Heer/Luftwaffe used captured exstensively there were very few weapon systems that had "staying power", if you will ,due to break down , lack of parts, lack of ammo, etc.... Before anybody says it :roll: :wink: I know the 76mm was a different story, but the Wehrmacht literally captuerd 10's of thousands of them and had to build a seperate munitions works just to supply the shells :shock: ,because they never captured enough ammo for them. I know there are a couple more ,but they never really were used in any real numbers or time.

The one instance that I will use as an example is the 3 SS Panzer Divsion. They had a whole battalion of captued t-34's at Kursk (to make up for the fact that were equiped primarily w/ late model PIII'S) but they (the t-34's) were mostly gone in three months either due to enemy action or mechnical failure. That was just one example, among many in all of the Wehrmacht, of what I meant by "staying power".

I myself have played the dlc's w/o the bonus SE ground units and it was a bit more challeging w/o them,,but nothing a little more brain power can't get around, to make up for that you get more recon due to the fact that the Storch is a bonus unit. Personally I liked having all of those free extra recon units to use while playing the dlc's (Kerensky !!!!!you are truly an evil evil mapper :twisted: :shock: :wink: ). I would keep the Storch as the a/only bonus ,because it's so versatile and BosDragon did an an outstanding in making it and skinning it.

Anyway there is my reasoning and I would appreciate any feedback. I'm gonna wait 24 hrs from now the see what the community thinks on the subject. Even if you are against the idea of this mod please feel free to respond to this particular question.
