Sergeant or Field Marshal??

I have played the new DLC's and the main game many times now. I have just finished playing '39 DLC for the 8th time trying to improve my prestige scores each time. I usually play as Field Marshal with weather and supply on but always leaving fog of war off. However I have lots of saved files using different difficulty levels. I usually finish the '39DLC with around 2,000 to 2,500 prestige. However this time around I finished with 6970!! This begged the question did I start the DLC as a lower rank by mistake? It certainly didnt feel like it as the campaign required the usual skill set. This however made me look into all the saved "core's" I have available to pick from each time I start a new Campaign and I cant find out anywhere which saved game has been played at which level. Therefore my question is how do I find out which level I have played any of my saved games at ie Colonel, Field Marshal etc?

AFAIK it's not possible to see the difficulty level from a saved game, unless it's Manstein since all enemies will be at 15 str.
Best thing to do is to put the difficulty level in the description box for each save.
PS just as a suggestion: try the game with fog of war on, usually it makes for a whole new game since you have to advance more cautiously and won't see any counterattacks coming from war away, but since you have already played the DLC so often you must know the enemies positions already

BTW if you turn fog of war off..it also turns it off for the enemy so the AI's tactics will change as well (ie fighters will go after transports in the middle of nowhere)

Thankyou all for your replies. Its a shame it cant be done. Maybe it could be looked at going forward as an update. Maybe incorporate a small piece of artwork depicting your rank on the the screen somewhere as a continuous reminder of which level you are playing as. I dont use fog of war for the reasons pointed out but if it does alter the oppositions style of combat then I will give it a try.

With the frequency this issue comes up, it's a pretty high priority item to get addressed. Doesn't mean it'll get fixed tomorrow, but we certainly aware of it.

Of course if you turn fog on...and then cheat code fog of war off...it doesn't turn it off for the AI

Actually I think there is a way to view difficulty setting in a save file, but you need to open it with a binary viewer (or hex viewer). Check the value at the offset 158969. Should be 00 for Sergeant, 03 for Colonel and 04 for General and FM (probably an index for AI or an adjustment). However if you have any mods installed, such as custom units, then the offset will differ.

If you play on Manstein difficulty, you will never forget what difficulty setting you choose. I guarantee it, can't miss enemy 15 strength units all over the place!

I have checked the levels using the tips given and indeed i did achieve 6970 prestege using the Field Marshal level. Maybe we should start up an unofficial challenge to see who can achieve the highest prestiege on each of the DLCs using different levels and settings. So my initial challenge would be to beat 6970 prestiege on the 39 DLC using weather and supply but no fog of war.
