When a unit receives a Hero, and lets say he is a +2 Attack. Does that attack bonus apply to all units that can be attacked or only one type, ie men or armor or aircraft etc. ?

Good question, I hope someone knows the answer

Also, I wish they would make it so you could tell which unit has that hero!

Thx

Try changing the name of the unit that has the hero. Say, Add "+1 A" to its name to remind you that its hero gives it a +1 on attack.

That is a great idea but I think I already got some heroes and can't remember which ones!

Do heroes form at any time or just at the end of battle?

Thx

If a unit has a attack bonus then that bonus is applied to both hard and soft attack.
I'm not sure what happens if the unit has a passive air attack (so can only defend from air attacks) if the bonus is added then aswell.

You can always check what heroes a unit has by right clicking on the unit and then clicking on Battle History, then mouse over the picture to have it's bonus shown (it's on everybody's wishlist to change this and it will be at some point).
If you are in the deployment phase then you can ALT+click on the unit for it's details.
And since the any hero always give a positive bonus I always add 1a(ttack), 1m(ovement), 2d(efense) etc to the unit's name.

You can get a hero when it has a medal. Or actually when it has made a specific number of kills.
That number (and the awarded medals for the kills) is different between the main campaign and the DLC's
For the main campaign it's after 50, 100 and 200 kills and for the DLC's it's after 100, 300 and 1000 kills.

While we are on the subject, here is a question I'm not sure about.

Do attack and defense heroes add to close attack and close defense values?

Yes and that is why my Panzer IVD with a +3 Defense hero is so good at destroying infantry in cities and forests :P.

Excellent! That is exactly the way it should be.

Tanks shouldn't get close defense bonus from heroes ie. cities should always be death traps for tanks.

I disagree with that. Plenty of examples of tanks being used succesfully in cities. Often a matter of experience and correct use.
