Over the Christmas break I have set up a website & blog to publish and share my work on “Field Of Glory PC” scenarios and other related topics. It can be found here.

http://snapupwargames.weebly.com/

Over the cooming month or so I plan to add book reviews and scenario design resources. For now available are all the playable scenarios I have previously published for the game in this forum along with “custom” versions of the scenarios I have designed for previous “Field Of Glory” modules, all but the most recent of which have been updated to use more appropriate unit graphics that became available with the recent “Decline & Fall” module.

Also vailable for the 1st time over the web are “custom” variants of a couple of scenarios which, I am about to submit for the forthcoming “Wolves From The Sea” module. These are Degsastan 603 AD & Brunanburh 937 AD, In both of which Anglo – Saxon armies are pitted against Celtic coalition forces with various Romano – British, Welsh, Irish & Viking allies The site also includes a link to my Amazon book selling page for those of you that are interested.

Enjoy, and complements of the season.

Regards
Ian

Very nice indeed. I have downloaded three of the "Dark Age" battles to play.

I have just finished playing a paired game of Brunaburh - very enjoyable, huge, well-balanced scenario. The Allies won one game 47/72 to 86/80; the English won the other game 72/80 to 72/72. Just one minor historical quibble for me - I don't think the Welsh warriors would have had longbows en masse at this stage (although individuals may have brought them to the battlefield). Apparently, the Welsh fought the Norman invaders with the shortbow in the 11thC and the longbow did not emerge as a mass weapon there until the 13thC. The other issue mentioned by my playing partner was that the images of the Vikings were for MF not HF. Obviously when "Wolves From The Sea" comes out shortly you can rectify this if you want to. In the meantime, the Byzantine list in the scenario editor has a Varangarian option and they look fairly Viking-like in appearance, if you wanted to use them.

But overall, an excellent scenario. :D

Nice work , thank you. But some battles has many units , on my pc (3GHZ) -3GB RAM it was not playable, long delay between the moves.
Think its time for a new pc. Battles with less units works good.

I too find when theres more than 100 150 or so BG's on the map the game runs like a slug...
Try playing with FOW off ,Double moves OFF in some of the largest ones, it helps , a little....

I would hate to think anyone would need to buy a new PC for a low graphics TURN BASED game, LOL Also you specs are better than my PC!
My guess is the calculations for LOS, movement as well as the shaded hexes and movement arrows that snake around your unit when moving/planning moves take up a lot of processing power.
Before they added some of these things in patches I dont believe the game was anywhere near as "laggy"

double moves: option like FOW
when on generally all BG's that start in command radii of a leader can basically move twice as far, so heavy foot can move 4 hexes vs 2...
I cant articulate the exact wording of when you are denied double moves, howver the nearby presence of enemy BG's will negate or reduce double moves

Think

Hi
Thanks for the feedback. I suspect its not so much a problem with your PC as with difficulties the AI has coping with large single player games. (were you trying to play the large scenarios in single player mode) All these scenarios have been tested in multiplayer mode over the net and work fine played that way.

Also because of the nature of the battle and army structures the biggest scenario “Kulikovo 1380 AD” is particularly unsuitable for play against the AI and even more so if the AI is given the Tarter side to play. This is flagged up in the scenario notes.

Many thanks
Ian
