Thoughts on game

First, thanks for the opportunity to take part in the beta. I started the campaign on Lt. level because I’m sort of a novice and I find it easier to maintain prestige levels further into the game. I thought the escaping locomotives was an excellent idea and a neat way to expand the game. Pushing the Russians out of the way was challenging but not so much so as not to be able to secure a decisive victory. I believe I lost a tank and a couple of recon units. I need to rework my use of recons because I find that the AI will take them out expeditiously if they are exposed without flank protection.

I liked the way I was able to divide forces to take Karkov 42. For me, multiple smaller force sizes seem more manageable and more fun that a giant map with a 1 giant swarm of units. This scenario was a little more difficult however and I managed to loose multiple recon units and a couple tanks.

For what it’s worth, I agree anti-air units should be able to be used as fire suppression. It would make them more valuable to keep as well as maintaining historical accuracy.

I also think a way to print the map would be a great idea. I would love to be able to move away from my computer desk and study the map.

Would it be too difficult to allow for access to the battle histories of units in the deployment phase? I may be a lone voice in the wilderness, but I'd greatly appreciate this function!

Alt+Click works during the deploy phase but ONLY if you are NOT in windowed mode.

Artillery is firing after the attacks, when it should fire before. This makes defending a bit easier and often means the AI may not take an objective or wipe a unit out. I stated this in another post but I need to further explain.

The basic attack should be arty, air, then tank and infantry. Arty should target in order of priority: AA, arty, troops in a city, tanks in the open. Infantry should go first in a city/woods while tank first in the open.

I am not sure how hard it might be to get the AI to follow that logic, but it works.

I also do not see the AI switching AA between direct fire and AA. It seems to me it would prioritize AA and if there are no targets, switch to a direct fire mode.

I just like to make it even more difficult! Great game, look forward to '43.
