Multiplayer: Why does there not exist a normal multiplayer?

Subject says the most, why does the game have to exit every single turn?
Why not allow you to stay in the game and see what the opponent does?
It would accomplish a couple of things:
1: You could see what he did one thing at a time, keeping boredom down.
2: You could keep planning your next moves while the opponents was doing their turn.

I don't really see a downside to these, but I do see a massive downside to the current way.
As it is me and a buddy wanted to play against each other, but having to exit and wait with no options to
even form a new strategy while the other draws, is a real pain.

Is there any plans to implement this, and if not could I please have an explanation of why not?

Thanks in advance

Yes, that was a major disappointment for me as well.

I remember when 3 friends of mine and me bought the newest battlefield title some time ago, because we wanted to meet and have a small private lan party and had played the previous one already.
Then this battlefield didnt support lan games and it was a huge disappointment for us (we knew private lan parties were not so common in other countries, but it was just a standard feature to support it, since it isnt much different from the internet games).

We all returned our copies the next day and never bought a battlefield title again.

I was angry with PC as well, multiplayer without lan, just reminded me of the battlefield desaster, but the singleplayer has great value here, so I kept it.
