To All,

As we come close to the release of GS 2.1 - I am looking for any final changes to the manual. I am mainly looking for organization and also the appearance & usefulness of the new Kindle and iBook formats. Corrections are always welcome!

I do wonder if anyone reads these posts as I get very little in the way of input, comments or contributions :-)

Also, if you have an explanations, hints, tactics or strategies that you think are worth sharing - please send them along to me. This can include content that you have already posted to the Forum. Just send me any electronic version you have. Plain text is fine - please do not worry about formatting. Also attach any associated pictures or graphics. Please ensure the the pictures and graphics are in the public domain and do not have copyright restrictions.

To see the current manual:

I have posted PDF, Kindle (.mobi) and iBook (.epub) versions to the web. Please review and send and comments back to me at: amcdonel@gmail.com

Will you be putting in hyperlinks to the TOC?

Thank you for the greatly improved Movement Costs chart! The penalty columns in the original always drove this olde brain batty.

Kind of. The links will be in the .mobi (Kindle) and iBook/eBook (iPad) versions. The current tool I am using, Scrivener, does not easily allow me to create hyperlinks in PDF docs.

I like movement examples. :)

Is it possible to add combat examples as well (all the formula + terrain influence)?

Keeping the manual up to date with all of the ongoing beta changes is a prodigious effort, Alec, and is much appreciated. Though I haven't finished reading through all of it yet (or at least the latest version that I have on hand -- 2.01.35), what I've seen is very good in terms of breaking down the game and its decision-making into component parts, a breakdown that also serves to explain new rules. The charts and illustrations are very nicely done as well.

I will ask Staffenberg about the formulas.

As far as examples - if people send them in - I will be glad to add them to the manual!!

Jim,

Thanks!

The charts are from Paul - he is a wizard at that!!

The manual is up to RC7 (Release Candidate 7)

Hey!

Well I know it works on my iPad :-) It would be great if someone else tested it. You can read the .epub version in the iBook reader on the iPad. iBook is a standard APP. Download the .epub version to your MAC/PC. Then import into iTunes. ("Add to Library"). Then "sync" your iPad to iTunes.

The Kindle version can also be read on the iPad. Download the Kindle APP to your iPad. Then in iTunes - after iPad is connected - select the iPad. Then select the "Apps" tab at the top iTunes screen for the iPad. Then scroll down is needed. You should see the Kindle App on the left. Select it and a windows on the right will appear. At the bottom right - you should see an "Add..." button. Click it, and then navigate and select to the .mobi file. Now sync the iPad with iTunes. You should be able to rad it in the Kindle APP on the iPad.

Send me a Private Message if you need more assistance and we can call and walk through the steps.

I got the iPad version into iTunes on my laptop (PC). But I can't seem to get it onto the iPad2. Where should it end up when I click 'synch' in iTunes on my laptop?

Typos:

1.9 (7th bullet) wen = when

1.6 "...now going through changes..." could be 'have made a set of changes" or similar?
"...the Axis player not to invaded..." should be 'invade'
(end of the para.)..."but to a point were"...should be 'where'

2.2.2 Should this also mention Spain joining Axis conditions? I know it's later in the manual.
2.4.2 ...4.3.1..."Consider the impact is you transport..."...should be 'if'
............4.5.4...there is no entry...
............6.5.2...is a question...should be statement
............6.5.3...add a comma
2.5.4 incomplete first sentence (how can ya tell i teach grammar?? )
3.3.1 "This gives players who or so inclined..." should be 'are'

7.11 Swedish ore formula..."If the interdict - protect >= 0 then..full (shouldn't it be <= 0?)

I'll just add to this (edit) if/as I see others.

It is pretty cool being able to enlarge a chart or such just by touching the screen!

A couple more things:

5.4.2. (pg. 108), last sentence of first paragraph. "It that case" to "In that case"

8.4.3. (pg. 216), last sentence of section. Reggio is now a surrender city (3.2.4), delete this sentence.

9.7.1. (pg. 267), points 1, 2, 3, 4. These four points are largely redundant, could be consolidated to two points:
*Spain will join the Allies if the French armistice offer is rejected and Casablanca, Oran, Algiers, Tunis, Rome and Paris are all Allied controlled. It's not enough that a city is neutral.
*Spain will make a trade agreement with Germany for the tungsten mine (2 PP's) if the French armistice offer is rejected and Italy is not conquered. Spain is still neutral. Spain will cancel the trade agreement with Germany if Italy is conquered. Spain is still neutral.

9.7.7. (pg. 269). Change "= with Greenland" to "and with Greenland"? Actually not sure what is meant here.

Nice job putting this all together!

Can you please add two important facts regarding defense:

1. Any resource (city, mine, fortress, rail hub) negates all underlying's terrain factors. On such hex only resource's factors are counted.
2. Unit that is not entrenched does not use any defensive bonuses provided by hex (from terrain/resource).

It is not described anywhere but quite important for the play.

Will do!
