Broken winning conditions when playing River Line (MP map)?

I've just played the 'River Line' multiplayer map against a friend and in an effort to evaluate the relative strengths/weaknesses of the French and German forces we decided to run two games concurrently, with each of us playing either side.

Both games were real slugathons which went all the way to the wire and as time expired I was very surprised to discover that I'd won both battles, which was most odd because my Frenchies were taking a real pounding and I only had a handful of units left. More importantly I only controlled 5/6 flags, which to me is not a winning condition! Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Can anyone tell what the criteria is for winning on a multiplayer map; is it merely down to the number of flags you control, and what happens if it's a tie after time expires - is it then down to the number of units you've lost?

One other thing - I didn't receive an email to process the final turn when I was playing the French. Has this behaviour ever been observed before and is it a known issue?

I guess if your opponent surrendered, then maybe you didn't get an email because there really was no more turn to make?

I haven't played the scenario yet so I can't comment on balancing... but..

I believe flags dictate victory as a priority. The exception being... if one side uses ALL its units before then, you default to a victory before the timer runs down.

I often wish there was a little more time, however, often by the last turn most if not all our units are burning or RIP anyway.
