I think so. PC is a totally diferent game so no real comparison of "if I have this why do I need that" Once I learn a little more I might venture into the awsome MP venue Slitherine has as well.

If you don't have the company's previous efforts, it's worth the investment. And yes, it seems MP playable, unlike some monster games. You can also realign nations with a mouse click if you want to go ahistorical, and that is something I have not seen so easily done.
Also check out this graphics mod if you do get it:

ToF has RRs, with huge effect on strategic movement and supply. The GUI is much improved. Air units are much more important now, because they are usable - lower immediate impact but lower cost (in ToW they were too expensive to use). Convoys can originate in an allied country now. The North Africa campaign is now interesting, because of the impact of the new supply rules and a reworking of the map there. The Caucasus is now interesting - revised resource targets, use of RRs to provide access, with impact on strategy.
And on and on.
