It's about time I try to also dig into these airplanes. From results it seems they actually attack three tiles, but only in a certain line, and ALWAYS only in a certain direction. I wonder, was there supposed to be a compass added to this game so players new to a scenario don't have to figure out where the straffing will hit from trial & error? Holding down shift shows no projection when using airpower.

I'm still not sure yet how far away these planes can SEARCH for targets from their original target tile.

I think planes always attack from the top of the map toward the bottom relative to the opening viewpoint. How many tiles and scatter is in the stats of the text file.
