I have updated my core game to the latest patch (1.05). I would like to installl DMP_Panzer Corps mod 3 speech sound mod which has an efx.pzdat file. Would replacing the core games efx.pzdat file with the one that come with the mod have an effect on the latest patch?

I hope that question makes sense.

I would suggest using the GME to do that - it will bring across the efx.pzdat and all its associated sound files if it is set up right and then allow you to disable the DMP sounds if you want to go back to the standard ones.

Just changing the efx file won't change the sounds - the associated files have to be available too.

Thanks for the quick response!

I will do that. I guess, i was making more work out of it then it had to be.

I will not work properly as you will not have sound for all the new units in 1.05

this is a long shot but... Is there a tool out there that would merge the efx.pzdat files into one?

I guess, i wanted to copy just some of the sounds from the mod into the base game.

Use Notepad++. Compare and copy the few lines which are different.
It's not more than a dozen or so.

I've discovered that Puma organized the efx in a different way than the standard.
So it won't be easy for someone who is not used to know which lines matter.
It's easy for me.
I've not tested but I think if you replace Puma efx file with this one you'll have the compatibility with 1.05.

EDIT: Puma said that for this patch work 100%, the equipment file it should also be tweaked.
So I remove the link.

Your better off using the Real Sound mod as it is much better using real sounds for almost every unit.
