Is the work on the next patch well under way? If so, could you give us an idea of what we might expect?

Would be great if the patch comes together with the new DLC - today. Then we'd surely get a changelog or so 
Would make sense since IIRC it was posted that non-DLC users will have the same functionality with the patch. But afaik there's no official ETA for the 1.05 yet.

I think the patch will have to come with the DLC.

With the DLC 41 postponed for a few days, i hope it won't be the case with the live v1.05.

1.05 and DLC3 are being build in parallel, and probably will go live together too.
As for the changes in 1.05, most important changes are: several new MP maps, some new units, a number of improvements in localization support (when you load a saved game, you will see hex names, units etc. in your local language, not language used to create the save - this is especially important in MP), there are a number of bug fixes and small improvements.
