In the early Persian starter list in Immortal Fire it lists two units of armored Hoplites 6 strong, but reading the army list there are only options to take 1 unit of 6-8, I was wondering which list was correct?

The simple answer is "Both"! The starter armies are designed to give a flavour of each army, a number of them have variances from the options for a do it yourself list.
That said, I don't have my lists with me, but I believe the Early Persians have a special campaign option that allows extra hoplites.

The commander is Mardonius, so this starter army is no doubt that of the Plateae campaign in 479. Which allows 22 bases of hoplites. Plus it dsays they are Boitian, hence they'd be medising Greeks.

I am going to paint a Persian army after I finish my greeks, and love the look of foot, so I was curious about their hoplite numbers since I want some foot that can face my greeks with a little bit of a chance. I think I will paint the army to include some medinizing greeks. Thanks guys for the pointers.
