I want to say they are big ships that allow aircraft to take off from and land on them but I don't think that's what you want.
They basically act like floating airfields in PzC. They don't attack but planes can refuel/rearm when adjacent to them.

As a beginner, I can point out one big difference between carriers and airfields, which is that you need to be on top of the carrier to refuel as opposed to the adjacent hexes of airfields. Perfectly reasonable if you think about it, but it caught me out!!

One more difference is that carriers cannot resupply strategtic bombers.

Would be nice if modders could differentiate land based and carrier based planes, so that only the latter can use carriers.

I hope in the (probably distant) future we can get carrier handling like in Pacific General - that'd be great.

Another difference... you lose an airfield, just take it back.
You lose an aircraft carrier, well that can be costly and darn inconvenient.

I just checked the V1.04, seems it only refuels aircraft directly on top and can refuel level bombers as well.
Can someone confirm this?
