i have BA for PC up to france. Now I am in bed with pneumonia for 10 days and thought: oh sweet at least i finally can play a lil BA on my wife's MAC and the only thing I have to do is buy all the BA's for MAC now, how cool! the hell is! the second I get into trying to play MP it tells me off by saying: I already have used up my keys! WHAT! how can you guys count two different purchases for two different os systems as one and the same?!!! I should have 2 key uses for each of my computers!!!! Gosh, seriously!

ok, now that some steam is out, can you fix this or do i have to want my darn money back?

thx,

himmel

Hi Himmel

the issue is you dont need 2 keys and you have, not that you need more keys.

You need to use the same key for PC and for Mac and then you'll be abel to play the games across both machines.

Can you uninstall the Mac version and reinstall with your original PC serial. Serials are valid across PC and Mac. same goes for the expansions. You can unlock all expansions on your Mac using your PC serials. No need to rebuy.

hi ian,

thx for responding.

ok, just to make sure. i deleted my Mac version, but now it does not want to reinstall it only gives me the option of registering the add-ons. did i not correctly del the files (mac is not my game!)

also, is there a way to unregister my registered game for a really clean install, or is there even the need for it i wonder?

another issue of key use: since i have bought two version PC & MAC is it true that i could now set up the base game on two PC's and two Mac"s?
each bought os version should have 2 keys to be used right, so that should be no problem.
So lets say, if I install one PC version on my home pc and another on a Mac in my office, and yet another on my wife's Macbook, than I should still have one key left for another Pc right?

If that is so, what about the installation and validation of add-ons?

Sry, but this key thing is really a mess.

thnx again,

himmel

I'm not up to speed on Mac's either so I am referring this to Phil who will eb able to help!

The serials are linked to a user account so you can have 2 completely different accounts going, either one on the PC and one on the Mac, or howvever you want. Basically yuou'll decide which PC/Mac to link to which user account by the serial number you use. The way you divide them is up to you. Each serial is a single user license so you've got 2 user licenses now... does that clarify or just confuse you more... :)

Delete your ~/Documents/My Games/BBCBA folder. This will allow you to start the registration process again and enter the same serial as you use on the PC. That should get you going.

Let's say he has one desktop PC and one Mac notebook. A friend comes over and they want to play against each other but not on hotseat. How can he have each one on a separate account (since he bought two copies) for the server?

I think the issue is that he has one account with 2 registered serials. We can fix this easily.

Currently, the situation you describe would require him to register one of the serial to another account. It's certainly possible that the system currently doesn't handle situations like that - although I would say that it's going to be pretty rare. I guess it might be better to allow the game to run if the serial on the installed version is valid, and the player trying to log in HAS a valid serial registered, even if it is different. It would require some significant backend work for sure, but I can't see any down side.

I will add it to the wishlist.

ok, look i will try and make this simple:

condition-

1) I have already since its release BA installed on my PC. in addition I have the france blitz, but not the Market Garden installed.

Questions to 1)-

a) If I want to install another copy on another PC, what process and what serial/key do i have to use?

b) What account login will I have to use for the second install (especially with a friend to play at the same time like junk suggested1)

c) If I do not have the Marked Garden yet and want to play someone that has it, will the other missions work in multiplayer anyhow or will it tell me, like i had before, that i do not have the add-on and thus can not connect to MP period?

condition-

2) Now, as mentioned, have I bought the Mac version and all the add-ons.

Questions to 2)-

a) I want to install one version on a MacBook and one on a desktop Mac in my office. What process and what serial/key do I have to use on each Mac?

b) How does it work with my PC account in this case or am I to open up a new "Mac" account with new user name and all?

bb) What if I want to play from my Mac lab-top on the road against an opponent at my Mac station in my office in terms of account lock-in. Will both games accept multiple lock-ins from different locations or what?

I think this about covers it.

If you would be so kind and respond to my categorizations so its not so jumpy and confusing that would be wonderful.

Thx a bunch for your quick efforts and responses here,

himmel

a ) For any platform, and for any machine, if you wish to play using the same account, you should install using the same serial. You can install on multiple machines, but they will all be connected to the same account.

b ) If you want to allow someone else with their own account to play on another machine, you will need to install using a different serial that is registered to them.

c ) Both players need their own valid MG serials to play MG MP scenarios. I'm not sure what you mean by connection issues - unless you installed MG onto a machine where you had installed the game using a serial registered to a different user than the one that the MG serial you installed was already registered to (phew - sorry if that is not clear!).

2a ) Same - use your original serial on both machines if you wish to play using the same account on both.

2b) If you install the Mac and PC versions using the same serial, they are attached to the same account and you can play, continue, etc games from any machine.

2bb) If you want to play against someone at home while you are on the road, and don't want to use hotseat (which we do need to upgrade actually - adding to list!) then you would need to reinstall using a different serial which is registered to them. This is easy on the Mac - just delete the ~/Documents/My Games/BBCBA folder and the game will ask for the new serial.

Hope that covers it all!

Cheers

Pip, Ian, and Junk2Drive ....

Perhaps this experience should be contained in a STICKY ... I think it should :)

... Well, at least "how-it-all-works" part when buying the same game for a different platform.
