Carbine or Bow Cavalry/LH

A few various armies Ottomans and such can have Cavalry and sometimes LH with either Carbine or Bow.

I was originially thinking bow with extra range and easier to hit POAs.

But in a recent game I had to cope with cavarly superior carbines and with wicked rolls and death dice I got shot up prety well.

So my current thinking is 1 Cavalry w/carbines supported by 1 LH w/bows. So get the extra hits but still get the death rolls.

What say you all?

Bow are especially useful if combined with a greater number of firearms, as they stand a greater chance of hitting and do not then have to take a -2 on a death roll......

Any further thoughts/experience on this? I'm wondering about the case purely with light horse. Do you prefer them with carbines or with bows?

From my limited experience, if you are intenting to evade with LH, bows give a little more security with their longer shooting range, so may be better, especially if the target is unarmoured mounted.

I took a mix in a recent game. Carbine cavalry and bow LH. I am not convinced that the LH with bow are apprciably different. But then i was often throwing like 4 carbine dice and 2 bow. So at that volume i did not see a big difference.

I don't have much experience but it seems like an interesting tradeoff. I'm a little inclined to prefer carbines but am not sure.
