Very good collection and impressive even without the perfect sun angle or moody mist.

I suggest a visit of these places whenever you have the chance of travelling through or to these areas. My most memorable spot during my visit (in terms of madness) was the hill at Vauquois. Atop the hill german and french trenches were/ are only a few metres away from each other, inside the hill a vast system of tunnels and galleries (which can`t be entered anymore). Some of these galleries even carry their original wooden name`s plate. Around 500 mine explosions shaped the hill like modeling clay.

Walking around there, bearing in mind what happened, really delivers some kind of strange atmosphere and the question, if this all was really necessary?

There was hardly a day my grandparents never harped on us kids about saving and picking up every penny we find.

They lived through the 1920's depression and taught us how to save.

Those lessons helped me survive the current depression.
