I have read the instructional thread about using Gizmo to make unit icons from scratch from a picture, but I have a bit of a different situation. I have managed to locate the ideal German insignia to put on captured weapons of units in the PzC files. The size, graphics, etc. are just a great looking fit on the tank/truck/whatever. But when I copy the pictures from the graphics file, (I know they are pscn files), and put them into my Paint editor to put the emblems on the tanks, the picture appears in the editor screen of the PAINT program with a bunch of background material. The file stays a pscn file and accepts the paste on emblem readily, but when I go back to the file in my pictures folder, the same background trash is still there. I have tried to change the pictures from JPEG to PSCN and vice versa. It seems they all get this damned background "curtain" for lack of a better word no matter what format they are in.

How can I prevent this background "curtain" from getting attached to the pictures?[/img]

You mean PNG files, not PSCN?

Do you possibly mean the checkered (usually white/gray) space that means part of an image is transparent?

You should use a better program. Paint is ... ehhh
You can use GIMP or Photoshop. GIMP and Photoshop can handle PNG transparency way better.

Von Paulus, yes I got the file types mixed up. They are PNG files. I have GIMP and Corel software, but I have never been able to get ride of the trash in the background of the tanks.


The "trash" I am talking about is not the checkered layer, it is connected to the images themselves after I go through this process. Sort of like model tank sprue with solid backgrounds partially behind and around the tanks, both sets of the images, large and small.

I've got them on my computer and could load them in this response, but I don't have them on a hosting site.

VPaulus, I have put the image on Image Shack and here is the link below. As you will see, the tank's four images have backgrounds of gray and black. They remain on the picture even when I reconvert back to png.

I'm no expert.
It seems that you've several layers open. When you save all the layers are merged. So the mess.
But I'm not sure.
I suppose when saving the png you use the interlace option.
