The army of Tamerlane invaded Anatolia from the east and started to pull the various Turkish beyliks away from the control of the Ottomans. In response, the Sultan Bayezid I marched his army to Ankara and engaged the Tatar army there.

Hello Micha. I have just set the armies at 800pts each and basically copied the Tatar army from the DAG list (there were Indian elephants present I have found out). But whether it is balanced properly yet, I don't know - it won't be too far off I'm sure.

Well, I have been playing in two play-tests this week and it is quite clear that the Tatars need strengthening in relation to the Ottomans. This is quite surprising to me inasmuch as in both battles the Ottomans have not sat behind their fortifications but have come out and attacked the Tatars. In the real battle, elements of the Ottoman left flank (Tatar renegades, troops from the Anatolian beyliks) defected to the Tatars - so one way to represent this is to make these troops "poor" so that the Ottomans have a real problem there. I am also going to replace some of the Tatar foot archers with more Tatar horse and see how that works.
My thanks to TGM, Fedem and Micha for help with the play-testing.

Some interesting changes; less Tatar naffatuns, more Serbian knights, parts of the map redone. Am I mistaken, or is there more Tatar cavalry now?
Looking forward playing this, tried the older version some days ago and used the Serbian knights as very efficient 'vacuum cleaners' on the battlefield, they moved in a large curve from the right flank to the left one, wiping away everything that dared to stand in their way.

Yes, more Tatar cavalry now. This one has been quite difficult to balance as the Tatars do not have a great deal of melee-ing power in their army.

Schweinewitz, that image of the formidable vacuum cleaner is a great 'selling point' for this scenario! And stockwellpete thanks for the follow-up work and update. I love that name Tatar naffatuns. Makes them almost sound adorable. Almost.

Updated to version 3. Tatars now have 850pts, Ottomans still have 800pts.
