Team Assault Skirmish Wish List

Team Assault takes place in Italy during WW2.
Where else would you like to see Team Assault have as its setting?
What “skirmishes” would you like to be able to play in Team Assault?
What is your “wish list”?
To start with, I will just list the one on the top of my list.
Iwo Jima

Iwo Jima was no skirmish, it was 8 miles of hell, hehehe. I don't see how it could be done here as it was 8 square miles and the japanese had over 11 miles of tunnels on it all linked to bunkers and pillboxes. But you got to have hand to hand combat for Iwo Jima as it was hand to hand almost every night. Turn based bayonet and fist fighting might be tough to simulate.
I would like to see maps for the hedgerows of Normandy. Maps for Market Garden, Bastogne, Stalingrad once buildings can be occupied, Targu Frumos(with Romanian infantry), and Mannheim line and the winter war with finland and soviet troops!

Oh and Wake Island, the Philippines, Burma-India border, Singapore... Ok that is enough for now, hehehe.

Well in all honestly, I was sort of thinking more in the lines of multiple skirmishes… Hhmmmm, something more on the lines of a campaign. Yeah – now that would be about right to give Iwo Jima some Justus.
And then after that one – Tarawa.
I suppose once a Marine, always a Marine. I’m just kind of partial to the Island fights.

Yeah the island fights would be nice, but too me the ultimate would be chosen river, but that is another war. It is however, the marines finest hour, largely ignored by history.

Lots of interesting stuff here. Myself I'd agree with Stalingrad or maybe a modern warfare campaign.

your opinion trumps ours, so we will go with your plan! LOL

It doesn't really

Even though I like making games, especially games that I like myself, I also take a lot of pleasure in making games in settings that other like. And to be honest, I rarely care much about the setting. To me the game system is always the most important part, not in which war, place or time it is used.

Well in that case…
… Vietnam would be at the very top of my list. And I think TA would work well with that setting.
I have yet to find a Vietnam game that is NOT a FPS or RTS – but is a strategic and / or tactical game.

vietnam would be tough to do for the same reason as Iwo Jima, lots of underground tunnel systems. Hue would be interesting but thats a major urban battle rather than a skirmish and not typical of what people visualize of the vietnam war. Random maps with jungle and rice fields would probably work though.

Maybe this is why I haven’t seen a good Vietnam game – it is too complex for any game makers to try and tackle it.
Yeah that’s right – I just threw out a challenge to all game makers to prove us wrong.

It would not be cost effective. There just is not interest out there for a operational or strategic level vietnam game. I think mostly because the major cause of victory or defeat was political not military. Thats why its is easier to make a FPS as no one wants to be the armchair general of vietnam.

I wouldn’t say “no one”.
And that is just a cover-up excuse for not having the means to tackle the task.
........ Obviously these are just my opinions.

1. Semi-mod to modern - SAS, Special Forces, etc - House to house fighting, Desert storm. Silencers – pistol – sub machine guns.
2. World War 1 (trench fighting, mine field clearing, b/wires) - recon raids to company size battles.
3. Nam – Patrol to company size battles: Recon, ambush, seek and destroy, special missions – bridge, airfield, village, forward base etc. Swamps, paddy (rice) fields, jungle.
4. Western – From gunfights to larger battles. Weapons: single shot rifles, pistols, swords, axe, knife, dynamite, bows etc.
5. Possible T/Assault concept of future warfare. For example, Stargate - Star Tek - Star Wars (Daleks) type style of play / mods. Maybe a map mod - Space battles for control of bases, resources. Could a map be designed to reflect a large spaceship (open top view with open doorways) with squads fighting for key locations to capture or destroy?

Nice ideas

I'd like a (realistic) future warfare version as well.
