Oh gawd, what a naff army the Papacy has!

The knights moved with all the speed of a set of dustbins while the Bulgarians whizzed about and picked them off at ease. Given that the Papal States also have to face the speed of the Skythians and Khwarazmians, I reckon they are a good bet to make it to the "Podium of Shame" by the end of the tournament.

popes got a great board. Pool table in the middle with impassable terrain along both flanks. Only one place for the heavy cav and the light/med skythians had nowhere to run

That pope cav ground the Skythians to dogmeat on that table. The Skythians need lots of open terrain like the steppes for instance where they can manouver. Not open ground in the middle and impassable stuff on the flanks. They just get boxed in and ground up. Also lost quite a few light troops that were chased off the board as they had nowhere else to go.
