Italia = joins Allies at war

I founded a way to have an alternative diplomatic situation : Mussolini is suddenly evinced of power and Italia joins the Allies at leat moment. What will happend ? In this new political situation you may try, USA, GB and USSR are absolute neutrals. Other countries are neutrals but are also dow-able by each side. For the fun, I also made as private test an other situation, with GB as Axis : it worked ! :twisted:

Italian reinforcements are purchased in Allies screen and no more in Axis screen. Very funny and new situation, that needs alternate strategic decisions... MH-CEAW is a very great game, the pleasure with it is always new :P

To create this situation, I have just modified some lines in scen file and 1 line in general.txt :

ITALIAN_CITIES_NEEDED 99 /* Number of Italian cities needed to capture to enforce surrender */

I replaced the original number 3 by 99 : so, 99 cities are now needed for Italian surrender = impossible = Italia stay in Allies side except if Rome is conquered by Axis [/img]


I will use theses tips to create the next version of my Europa pre-war mod, that will include free Austria and that will allow scenario of war in 1934 : Mussolini refuses Hitler's plans for Anschluss and declares war, supported by France and Poland + Czechoslovakia. GB stays neutral. What if ? I don't know, perhaps my PC will explose :D

??? Wouldn't this mean that as allies you need to take out the Capitol in order to force surrender? Like in the vanilla game?

Oh, I see the graphic now - Yes, but it should be in the 44' scenario only (As the actual surrender was after August of 1943)

Yes, it's just a what if ? (but it could had happened)

If you want to use the tip in "1939" basic scenario or other (in GS 2.0), you have just to open the general txtx file and search this line :

ITALIAN_CITIES_NEEDED 3 /* Number of Italian cities needed to capture to enforce surrender */

Then, you have just to modify it as :

ITALIAN_CITIES_NEEDED 99 /* Number of Italian cities needed to capture to enforce surrender */

After this modification : Italy will never surrender except if Rome is conquered by Allies

seems cool ill check it out.to bad they dont make this game more like staregic command global have the hole world.

Tried it & have a few comments:

The Italians barely move against Germany. Only the tank corps in the game I played moved against the German border. I'd do a little adjustment to the opening positions of the Italian forces to set the up to attack Germany. Also, that means Germany should have some troops protecting the southern front.

The big problem, though, was that when Paris fell the game ended. It seems Italy doesn't count as a major Allied power so a sudden death win is very easy to achieve. Not sure how to fix that one.

Ye, it's the pb with Italia in allied side : Italia is not counted as Allies. It was just a quick sample of what it may be make with the game. A complete scenario would need a "balancing-work", with a more heavy France , perhaps Czechoslovakia in allied side, etc. I will do that sort of things in the future, after reading the entire manuel, and only for 2 human players or a solo player assuming the 2 sides to experiment new situations (because IA does not play with accuracy these kind of what if situations). I think the first will be a anglo-italian war in med. sea in 1935/1936 : Italia + Turkey + Bulgaria Vs Greece and GB. Other countries neutral, included Germany (Germany stayin republic due to the fact A. Hitler had a airplane accident during year 1932 and Nazi party failed in power conquest)

I have to says that : if MH-CEAW was not blocked in some situations (Allied = only GB+FRANCE etc) and Axis = only Germany +Italia etc), this game could allow fantastic what if? situations and the life of the game would be more longer, I think, because the interest of play will be more and more great : an infinite panel of new situations could be realized, and lot of what if? exploring alternate history could be made.

Sample : Germany stays a republic, and a anglo-french rivality comes in middle-east. France makes alliance with Italia and try to conquer Iraq for oil.
