The POA doesn't count. Does the CT minus count?

Yes - they still have the Lancers capability even if there was no PoA.

What about p135 "Open terrain":

"POAs and Cohesion Test modifiers only applying "in open terrain" do not count:
- if the base claiming the POA or causing the Cohesion Test modifier even partly enters uneven, rough or difficult terrain"

So the lancers who cause the CT modifier are in terrain, and so the CT modifier doesn't count?

(This is a pass on question from the Italian forum - I thought I agreed with you but seeing this has now confused me).

The CT modifier for losing to lancers is not contingent on open terrain - unlike the MF losing to mounted/HF one. If you look at the table on p113 you see the latter has "open terrain" in bold but the lancers one doesn't :D

It's confused me and at least one other reader... it's one of those read several times before it maybe, maybe, makes sense.

It would be clearer if the p135 bit actually wasn't there!

I'm not sure why this would cause any confusion. There is nothing to suggest that the CT modifier for losing to lancers only applies in open terrain, so the section on pg 135 is not relevant.
