Second Mission, Blitzkrieg France

This mission is supposed to be about holding a bridge, and that's not a problem.
It's the counterattack that's stalling me. I can take the village on the German right, but I always seem to fall short with the one on the left. Once I nearly "tagged the flag" with a Panzer II on the final turn, but that's about as close as I've come.
Any suggestions?

Figured it out. Started infantry and a Pzr II in the cornfield on the left. Kept the French from advancing quickly, and allowed me to take and hold the bombed out farmhouse, using it to support the assault on the village beyond.

SullyAG,
I was suprised that nobody jumped in with a suggestion ... There are a few players here that know the "how-to's".
I thought I saw a similar post many months ago about this same scenario where some players got stuck, but I couldn't find the post.
I'm glad you sorted it out.
Most of the scenario's put you face-to-face with different tactical problems, and hopefully you have something new to add to your "Bag-of-Tricks".

Thanks, Merr! This is my second campaign, and it's a bit more challenging than Western Desert. Perhaps that's because we expect the French to be a pushover, but that isn't the case (and tactically, French units did frustrate the Wehrmacht on occasion). These missions really punish mistakes.

I'm sure that eventually you'll start to get your butt handed to you on a royal platter
Hopefully you won't snap under fire ... Like this gentlemen did (if you haven't read that) ;

Glance at my post/comment ... The advice might help too.

Great advice Merr, thanks!
Reminds me of some lessons I learned from a movie called 84 Charlie Mopic.
When ambushed:
1) Control panic
2) Determine the direction of the threat
3) Take action
Up to the third mission in Blitzkreig France now. Beat it tonight after several tries.
I'm finding that this game demands that you balance aggression with caution and play patiently. Using cover is important in BA -- it will punish mistakes severely.
One thing I would like is an undo button of some sort. Sometimes I click on the wrong tile by accident, and then I'm stuck with a bad move. That's annoying.

SullyAG,
I don't know if you've seen my QuickBattles (random) scenarios ...

Think of my QuickBattles like a bootcamp. They might help and the AI is a pushover (for now)
I'm going to make more theaters too, and I have a version that can be played from the German side (needs balancing, work-in-progress).
I'm planning on three more Allied (player) versions ... (SP and MP)

North Africa ... British vs German (Italian).

Arnhem ... US/British @ Airborne vs German.

Blitzkrieg ... French vs German.
... and three more German (player) versions ... (SP only)

North Africa ... German vs British.

Arnhem ... German vs US/British @ Airborne.

Blitzkrieg ... German vs French.
Once I get all the 1st versions out, I'm going to go back and work on the AI some more.

Good stuff, Merr, I'll give it a try. Thanks!
