New user about to purchase. A few questions

New user here, as far as war games go only ever played a bit of Strategic Command 2 (SC2).

Few questions before I purchase

1) Is there a demo available?
2) Never liked the way I couldn't zoom in SC2, can I zoom in/out in the PC tactical view?
3) Are you planning a WW2 Pacific campaign (DLC maybe?)
4) Will this game be coming to Steam?
5) If not Steam then is it better for the developer to buy from Slitherine or Matrix?
6) How long is the average single player game? About 30mins sounds nice
6) Is the PBEM like real multiplayer? "PBEM" makes me think 'correspondence chess' with a game taking weeks, how long is a typical multiplayer game?

BTW the game looks great... I've been looking for a new game to get into, and seems like there's a lot of mod activity already.

Congrats!

I'll only address number 6, since others can address the other points. From the twenty or so MP games I've played, most opponents play fairly quickly, a few turns a day, each turn taking five, at most ten minutes to play. Simply issue a challenge, and someone will accept it fairly quickly. So a MP game is usually over in a few days, maybe a week. And the human players you will meet online can be very, very devious, I've had some great MP games. So MP is probably the most impressive, under-advertised part about the game.

Welcome to the forums, JuiceRabbit.
I have never played SC2 so I can't make any comparisons but I will answer your questions that I can.
1) Not that I am aware of.
2) There is a close-in view, a large scale tactical view and a strategic map. Effectively 3 views.
3) I think they are but the devs would need to answer this one.
4) This has been contentious in the past - no, is the current response.
5) Either - they have the same exe files to download.
6) It is PBEM++, which is somewhere between PBEM and live online gaming. The game turns are stored on a server and when you log in (an easy task using the in-game menu) you access the turn and play it. When you finish the turn it is automatically uploaded to the server where it becomes available to your opponent. Very smooth process in my experience.

Yes, plenty of modding can be done - the included Editor is very powerful and easy to use, especially with help from the other modders on these forums.

Cheers and hopefully we'll see you in the tank turret soon.

Welcome.

1) No
2) In the tactical view you've 2 levels. One zoom in and one zoom out. So yes.
3)There are no promises regarding a Pacific campaign. But I'd say there are some chances of having some day a Pacific Corps. But there will be mods that will deal with that for sure. I know already two probably.
4) So far, there's no intention in releasing it the Steam system.
5) It doesn't matter. Matrix is more for North American market. Slitherine is more related with European Market.
6)30 minutes the least. I can take between 45m to 1H30m, but it depends on scenario.

I believe the question is "where do I give the most money directly to the devs and not middle men?" not "which store gives me the best game version?"

It's like drinking an old scotch or a special bourbon, while smoking a cigarillo.
Go slowly and you appreciate it more.
Oh boy! How I missed those moments. For more than six years that I don't smoke anymore.
