LF charging a revealed target not in the open

My LF charge an opposing LF unit. The enemy LF then evades revealing an enemy MF unit which is in non-open terrain. Must the charging LF then contact the MF if it is in charge range or may they halt short of contact?

Page 60, Attempts to Charge or Receive a Charge with Skirmishers.
1st bullet says LF cannot charge or intercept unbroken non-skirmishers in open terrain.
3rd bullet says, and I quote: "If any of their charge targets evade, skirmishers must halt their charge 1MU away from enemy to their front whom they would not normally be allowed to charge without a CMT (unless they passed a CMT to charge them prior to charging)."
So it sounds like the LF 'must' halt 1MU short of the MF. The exception would be if they knew they'd contact the MF (stepping forward?) when they charged the LF and rolled their CMT to contact the MF before the LF evaded (allowed since the MF are not in open terrain).

Since the MF is not in the open they are a legal target. So the LF would hit the MF. IMO.

LF cannot attempt to charge any battle troops in the open. They cannot even take a CMT to do it.

I'm in agreement. In this example, though, the MF are not in open terrrain. The RAW clearly states that the LF must stop 1 MU from the MF if they had not passed a CMT to contact them prior to starting the charge move.

They'll charge in. Since the MF are in non open terrain, the LF would normally be able to charge them without a CMT, hence the 'skirmishers stopping short' exception doesn't apply.

Well, I read it again and I see what you mean. Thanks for helping me to read it correctly. LF do not have to take a CMT to charge, they can either make the charge or they are not allowed to charge. It is only the LH that have to test to charge.
