Colonel level.
For the second test i decided to take the Warsaw south option. From the west i advanced slowly. Patience is a virtue while the rest of the core takes half the hexes east of Warsaw and the auxiliaries the other half to lay hands on those Polish artillery pieces. Then i can start moving in from both sides. I mainly used the infantry with artillery support and used the tanks to go for the kill. The airforce is also important to soften them up. Enemy fighters appeared from time to time but they were easily taken care of. The scenario feels right in every aspect, including the tankettes making a desperate counter-attack. The 7tp tank on the east bank didn't do a thing, which was a pity. I managed to finish 14/20 turns, got 626 PP. Will need quite some PP for reinforcements thou.
Now, the biggest surprise is the captured 105mm Pol artillery piece that became part of my core. Who do i have to thank for that?

High Command decided they didn't need to keep all 4 units for themselves.
But actually, since feedback regarding captured units has been so positive, I decided to reconfigure one of them to join the player core.

A nice little surprise

Hopefully in the future, we will have art to support this concept as well.
T34/41s with actual German Grey colors and markings, for example.

Pure brilliance!
Now, who do I need to bribe to get the option to buy foreign units during certain campaigns. Italian, Rumanian, Finnish, units, etc?

After several days away for the game, it's time to boot the second beta to continue my campaign, and it's off to Warsaw South. Longer and "meatier" scenario thant the previous ones, it's a slow grind through the streets of Warsaw. The captured artillery is very nice (especially the permanent one

). Even on colonel this scenario is not trivial, due to the sheer amount of entrenched troops with artillery/AA support, and some counterattacks by tankettes and cavalry you are pretty much guaranteed to take damage during your slow advance. A fitting end to the Poland campaign. Though - personnaly - it was probably my less favorite scenario (on a relative scale compared to the previous ones - it's still good

) because of the relatively "static" nature of this enormous siege, the necessity to divert part of your force to capture the eastern cities to get the big cannons prevent this to become a linear plod through the city, which is pretty good.

I also took on Warsaw South this time around. Compared to Warsaw North I think it is a bit tougher since North lets you attack in a pincer formation, but there may be some advantages to south that I didn't recognize. This scenario is one of the greats of the Polish campaign, I would place it in the top three. It is really an interesting challenge to try to fight your way across such a huge city. There is really nothing like it in the core game. I got a decsive victory on turn 15, though I lost my beloved anti-tank gun that I started off with. Although not very effective, I always found it endearing and tried to use it where I could.
The permanent captured artillery is wonderful and addressed the one flaw this scenario had in beta 1, which is to say that there was little incentive to try to split troops off to capture the artillery cities. Captured units always make me strangely happy. I plan on never upgrading this badboy and using it as long as i can.
