When is a flank, not a flank?

Does the prohibition on wheeling within 1mu to create a flank charge also apply to a rear charge.
I have always thought rear and flank (side) were treated the same but the RAW do say "Flank" not "Flank or Rear" when sicussing the disqualification of a charge with a wheel within 1 MU?
Is this the intent of the rule?
Charge into flank requiring a wheel within 1 mu = Not a flank charge
Charge into the rear requiring a wheel within 1 mu NOT = to a flank charge
Thank You

No, it only applies to FLANK not REAR. If you look at the bullet above for example it says 'flank or rear'. This one specifically applies only to flanks not rears.

Is a rear charge ever defined in the rules ?

I guess I took it as implied that a rear charge is one where your initial contact is with the rear of the unit as opposed to the side edge of the unit.
OTOH, looking at the pictures.... (which I never do when the rule seems clear) the diagram on page 57 makes it sound like you cannot wheel as part of a rear charge either if you are within 1 MU.

See the errata for the page 57 diagram. "There is no requirement to start more that 1 MU from the target to wheel as part of a rear charge."

Thanks... I thought that was right... but I look at the errata less than I look at the FAQ! Guess I need to print those out and have them handy when we are trying to figure out where we saw something... getting old!

I know. I went through the rulebook and posted all the errata and FAQs in the appropriate places. I'm also cross-referencing pages in the rulebook because things like "shifts" show up in 6 or 7 places.

You will no doubt complete this exercise about four days before v2.0 hits the shops...

From what I hear it should be Version 1.2 and handled with errata.

But that won't make any money.

Not to mention what you "hear" is wrong.
