Ally Generals in the Late Dynastic Egyptian Army List

Can someone please help with a lists query? In the Late Dynastic Egyptian list, there is an option for Greek Ally Generals, which can only command the Mercenary Greek hoplites allowed in the main list - so Ally generals are not compulsory - the greeks can be commanded by the Egyptian Generals

So if I take a Greek ally-general, do I have to follow the usual rules for allied contingents - do I have to specify which BGs are being so commanded? And if the AG is killed, can the mercenaries then be commanded by one of the Egyptian Generals? Just a bit confused as the Greeks don't feel like a "normal" allied contingent as they are not defined as such in the list.

Thanks

Marc

I take it Mr Ruddock didn't pass on my answer when he asked me about this :D

If you have an "internal" Greek ally you must allocate some, or all, of the Mercenary Greek hoplites to that general and they are then his allied contingent. He is then their general in line of command, and if he pops his clogs they are commander-less. Hoplites not allocated to a Greek allied general can be commanded by any Egyptian generals. This does not cover the possible Kyrenaian Greek ally which is just a normal allied contingent from the relevant list.

Well that he passed the message on correctly anyway - we wouldn't want to go admitting he was right.
