The Bonus Campaign Difficulty Levels

I'm curious as to which of the bonus difficulty levels you find most difficult. For me:

Hardest: Guderian
Moderate: Manstein
Hard but beatable: Rommel

I've won on Rommel (no undos, reloads) and almost won on Manstein (but reloaded many times - couldn't get a sea lion decisive but could see how I could theoritically do it). Guderian seems totally impossible unless I am missing something. I found Rommel to be the easiest by a long stretch. I'm curious how others have found them.

I see Guderian and Manstein great for masochists...

I haven't played them yet, but from what I know of them, I would rank them in the same order as ruskicanuk.

I have not bothered but I agree to your assessment. Guderian leaves even less time in scenarios that area already mostly difficult due to time restraints and I wonder if it not makes some of them next if not totally impossible.

Manstein: The enemy is stronger but you don't have to change your strategy that much, it's just harder and less forgiving.

Rommel: I guess you are right, I find the unit and prestige restrictions to be more annoying than challenging. Even on Field Marshal I could buff some units with elite replacements only while Rommel sounds more like "you can't afford elite replacements. ever." - not THAT fun to me, somehow. :)

Yea, Rommel leaves you with a less experienced core as you cannot buy elite reinforcements.

I am sort of torn between whether Guderian or Manstein is harder... I think Guderian definitely subjects you to luck more since bad weather can indeed make it impossible to win a scenario on it (like Moscow or Sea Lion).

All in all, I am glad the designers added them. I think they have done a very good job with the AI overall and laying out multiple levels of difficulty. You know its good when you hear people playing on the simple levels but they let the user access these very hard versions. Good work!

Back in BETA, Rommel used to be the hardest. Of course that's when Rommel was all three difficulties combined (+5 enemy strength, reduced player prestige, reduced mission time, AND and experience penalties on top of all that).

I tell you what, and I'm not ashamed to admit it, but I got completely owned by the Tutorial Campaign playing on THAT difficulty setting.

I think Erwin would have been flattered.

wow. Maybe if we beat the three bonus campaigns (west USA decisive) that level opens up? ;-)

You should have a secret Clausewitz or Moltke difficulty level that can be unlocked that brings back the old super Rommel level. :D

The thread is called "Bonus Campaign Difficulty Levels" (my emphasis)

There's no bonus campaign, we're discussing the three extra difficulty levels you can start the existing campaigns with.

You do realize he just said 'Im new to the game'? Let's not be so harsh on new blood. :)

Ebrown: Bonus campaigns in this context means bonus settings to play any campaigns on unique settings. That is, not just small resource number changes or marginally better AI, but dramatic changes to difficulty, such as shaving entire turns off of scenarios, or giving all enemy units +50% additional strength.

These bonus difficulty levels, once unlocked, can be applied to any Panzer Corps campaign. The default 4 campaigns (tutorial not included), the upcoming DLC campaigns, or even custom made user campaigns. Technically, user created campaigns may be considered bonus campaigns too. ;)

Does that satisfy your question?

Please Molve, remember that ebrown is a new user and new to the game.
It's not by emphasising that you can change the fact that the title thread will mislead newcomers to the game.

@ebrown
Hi.
There's no bonus campaign. What happens is when you finished the campaign with the hardest level of difficulty (Field Marshal), the game unlock three extra special hard levels of difficulty.
Guderian, Mainstein and Rommel.

Edit: Ups! It seems I took to long to answer. Thanks Kerensky.

Thanks guys. I haven't finished a campaign yet so that is why I haven't come across the bonus difficulty levels. Great game.
