Who Does What?

Here’s a question(s) a bit off topic though.

I still can’t put my hands around how Slitherine and Zeal (or Lordz) are connected.

Maybe some easy questions with (I hope) easy answers.
Who does what?
Zeal is the designer / builder of Team Assault – right?
So than what is Slitherine’s function in all of this?
Is it a partnership or is Slitherine a parent company of Zeal?
:?

Zeal is the developer, we make the game.

Slitherine is our publisher/distributor. They release the game, gets it printed, sells it, markets it, provide forums and beta testing etc. All the other stuff around just making the game.

Lordz makes Panzer Corps. That's a whole other game, but they have the same publisher. VPaulus is however quite active in our forums as well, as a user, which is much fun to see though :)

OK, that’s about what I thought. But what was throwing me is the Beta end of it.

You’re the developer of the game, but Slitherine takes care of the Beta end of it?????

In what way? Like making sure you take care of known bugs and things like that? Sort of overseeing the testing phase?
Can Slitherine determine changes as well? As in they say to put something new in the game.

Obviously I’m just very curious about the mechanics on the relationship between the two companies.
And sorry if I’m getting too close or stepping over any company boundaries here.

Slitherine have the means to gather beta testers and distributing the beta. It is still we who implement the changes, but they can influence us a lot and come with requests. This much I believe I can tell you without getting into any complications :)

As a publuisher we provide certain services to our developers. These range from localisation, beta testing, marketing, manuals & box layout, production of boxes, selling & payment colelction, distribution through retail, server services suich as the PBEM system, tech support etc. etc.

We also give design advice and especially user interface feedback.

However the developers role is to do all the art, coding etc on the game. We are here to support them. It is their game.

Let everyone do what they do best -- a good recipe for a successful final product.
Thanks for the insight.

Will Zeal or Slitherine provide a server for multi-player combat?

Yes, there is Multi Player capabilities. I don’t know where that server precisely resides though.
