Though it looks more like a bright orange vivid blue future to me...

Looks good! i was thinking about trying to find my old copy of SSI's Rites of War (basically PG in WH40k clothes) and trying to extract some the graphics from that game for use in PC . I have a suspicion that I chucked it into the garbage years ago though.

I had a similar idea. But as RoW has a different perspective, i tried to use the sound files for the weapon sounds. They weren't that good though, today I will search my good ol' Chaos Gate, that had an excellent sound.

I'm by no means a Warhammer 40k expert, but what about taking Dawn of War as a basis, where you can move the camera arount the 3d units until the result is to your liking?

Good idea. But how would I (technically) use them? Making screenshots? You know, I actually start learning all of these things.

Screenshots are the simplest option, and they can work - I created (and still create) most of my plane graphics using screenshots from European Air War...
That said, I'm pretty sure there's something useful in the official modding tools for Dawn of War and/or it's sequel - something like a model viewer/exporter.
I'm pretty sure people have been using DoW models in Civ4 mods at some point, so it ought to be possible.
Provided you have the right tools, you can even modify stance and props etc. of a model, especially if it's a living being - for example using Poser, like (afaik) HBalck.
I don't have Poser, nor do I have 3DS-Max or even just Blender skills (since it's free, I DO have Blender, but I'm mostly clueless about how it works), so I mostly resort to screenshots.
