Society of Ancients Games Day...AOW?

I've been reading through this month's issue of Slingshot (Yep, I can even manage some of the big words thesedays :)) and noticed that this years SOA game will be the battle of Cynoscephalae in 197 BC. For those who may be unfamiliar with SOA games days then a chosen battle is re-fought on the same day by different groups of players with each group using a different set of rules. I believe that 10 different sets of rules are being used to date, including DBMM and Warmaster. I think this would be an excellent opportunity for the authors of the latest playtest version of AOW to try out their rules in a historical battle where their performance could be compared to the other rulesets being played. I appreciate that AOW is still 'work in progress' but I think such an event would provide feedback of a greater value than a hatfull of games between non-historical opponents, as tends to often be the case in competition gaming.

I take it that's a 'No' then? It's a pity as such an event offers great opportunities to advertise the performance of the rules compared to the other rules that will be used. There is also a substantial part of a following Slingshot that is dedicated to reports on how the battle fared under the different rules and what the players thought of them.

We are aware of the SOA day and in fact several of us are SoA members.

Its a question of who's available and as some of the team are heavily engaed on other projects time is limited, but we have not yet decided

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone can make it as I, and I don't think I'm alone on this, would appreciate reading how AOW performs in comparison to other rules I am tempted to use.
