AI and Victory Conditions

How in tuned with the victory conditions is the AI?
Examples:
Will the AI understand that it needs to get 5 ground units in to Zone 1 by the end of the scenario?
Or to eliminate the 3 “special” forces units on the map?
… or is the AI just victory hex oriented?

If you place these objectives near in or around victory hexes, the AI will go after them.

Very good idea.
Will that work if the “zone” is all Deep Sea? (Obviously, it is ships in the actual scenario I’m working on – but didn’t want to tip my hand; so I said ground units above. but now everyone knows.)

Well we know from Norway that ships also gravitate towards victory hexes, so I would think it should work.

If this doesn't get the AI to act as I wish - then maybe I made a MP map instead of one for my campaign.

It won't work with dumb AI. Sure the AI will go after a victory hex but they won't move enough units into the zone to fill the conditions.
If they take the hex then they will stop coming into the zone.

So add more victory hexes to the zone or put the VH on the other side of the zone so the AI has to move units through it and fill up the zone on the way to VH. The AI isn't dumb, it does what it's told to do.

Maybe if I try to program my children, they might too.
I think as a MP it might be an OK map. Played from the Allied side (that’s the side that needs to get the units in to the zone) not too bad either… but from the Axis side; not so much.
I’ve adjusted the victory conditions that only a Major victory needs the units in the zone. Minor victory I changed to a variation of that – to number of units left on the map by the end.
I think I’m going to move on to the next scenario in the campaign for now. Starting to get burned out from playing this one over and over again.
