Rout Sequence Question

We had a situation come up today where two BGs broke in the same Melee phase. One mine and one my opponents. The order of rout and pursuit mattered as my pursuers would make contact with his pursuers but his would not contact mine becuase of the angle of the various fights.

We looked in the rules and all we could find was that the routers should all move first and then pursuers move. If multiple units are pursuing the same router fastest moves first, I didn't see anything about the sequence otherwise. We went with the 'its my turn so I choose the order', but I wanted to check what the correct process should have been.

Was moving all routers before any pursuers correct or should we have chosen one router and moved it and its pursuers before moving other routers?

Thanks!

I believe the sequence of play says all routers move before any pursurers.
Make initial rout moves for troops broken this phase. Make initial pursuits.
In the event that you have issue of the routers interacting or which pursuer to move first (by side) I believe there is a line at teh beginning of the JAP of the rules
The order rarely matters, but the active player moves his troops first, or decides the sequence of events, should either side feel this is necessary.

This actually happened in the melee phase, would the same rule apply?

I know under the initial rout moves section there was a note to see the JAP chapter... I guess I just talked myself into it applying.

Thanks!
