Graphics Program?

Being that I’m not very capable or knowledgeable in the graphics area; I’m looking for something that even I can figure out and make something that is at least slightly better than a two year old child’s scribble. I’m working on a small campaign and want to make a unit or two

What are some suggestions of a very beginners level graphics program to do this? Preferably something low in price; so I can save my pennies for Commander The Great War when it comes out.

I think in terms of 3D, modders used a lot Poser. Poser is good for dealing with human models.
You've also Blender which is freeware.

For 2D graphics, there's nothing like Photoshop, but give a try at Gimp. Gimp is free and it's very complete.

Maybe you don't have to spent any money at all.
Remember, that it takes some time to learn and to get acquaint with this kind of software. Don't let yourself discourage.

If you find Gimp's UI painful to deal with, give Paint.NET a go.
It's all I use for my unit-making needs so far, and also free.
