Swordsmen behind field fortifications

Do they count as ++ as swordsmen in overlap if they are defending a ff ?

Can't see why it wouldn't still count, I dont see anywhere in the rules it says that being behind a Ff would stop you from gaining POA's for fighting as an overlap.
