I noticed one issue: Posting replies occasionally throws an SMTP error now.

The SMTP issue is back.
Also (maybe you rolled back something which caused the SMTP issue to re-appear), the forum is now occasionally EXTREMELY slow.
Yesterday, I had to wait about FIVE MINUTES for a thread to appear.
No kidding/exaggerating.

+1 to that. I am not familiar with the SMTP issue but the forum can be excruciatingly slow. In fact, it is the only site that routinely returns a cannot connect message in IE for me. Now I use Chrome and that issue doesn't occur but it is still very slow. I would say it was just my connection except other sites (e.g. Matrix) do not have the same issue for me.

It is not much faster then before. Also if you reply to posts you get an error. No route to host.

Something is way wrong with this site.
It's taking me around 2 minutes (by a clock) to access threads. My access times otherwise around the net are 2 sec. or less.
It's been this way for several days now.

We are also seeing the issue with individual threads being very slow to come up. We are debugging it now, so it should only be a temporary inconvenience.
Thanks for reporting it.
Cheers
